How
to Colonize an Asteroid
The rocket is our primary tool for getting into space (at the moment, it is our only tool). Even the Space Shuttle relies on conventional rocket technology to propel it into orbit. There are a few other propulsion methods avaible or under development (at the bottom of the list), but none have the track record of chemical rocket engines.
There is some fun here! In this section you will find enough information to actually go out to your local field and launch something! (For less than $50.00!) The larger high powered and experimental rockets described here require licensing or certification of some kind, in addition to FAA flight clearance, prior to any launch attempt. Read the references carefully before attempting your own high powered launch.
