The "Nail Shooter" was a project I constructed in 1983 to illustrate the basic principles behind linear induction engines, and to provide a test bed for further experimentation. It is not a very sophisticated or powerful device, but it demonstrates the principles in an affordable and accessible manner.
Please take the time to read ALL of these pages before attempting your own construction project. Although the projectile from this device is small and won't do a whole lot of damage, you can be burned or shocked badly on the capacitive discharge power supplies, and parts of the circuit which use the AC line voltage could be potentially harmful. I accept no responsibility for the use, or misuse of these plans, but expect you to exercise some caution and responsibility. If you are under 18 years of age, adult supervision is advised, and may be required in some areas.
