How to Colonize an Asteroid
If a magnet is passed through a coil of wire, the moving magnetic field induces a voltage in the coil of wire, just the opposite effect you get when you make an electromagnet. This principle can be harnessed in several different ways to generate electricity, but we probably won't use mechanical generators in space to generate electricity since solar cells are so much more practical there.
