How to Colonize an Asteroid
When we go to the asteroids, we will not have access to the 117 volt ac line which comes to your house from the power company. (Bummer). With this in mind, many of the projects which I have designed for this web assume access to an alternative source of electricity. My primary alternative source of power is the 12 volt dc system in my shed, and most of you probably do not have access to this type of a system. You could use the cigarette lighter in your car, or you could construct this 12 volt dc supply which gets it's power from the ac in your house, thereby "eliminating" the batteries which I normally use.
