How to Colonize an Asteroid
This experiment deals with some hazardous materials, and may create a potential electrical shock or explosion hazard. Please pay careful attention to the instructions, and perform this experiment only under adult supervision.
This experiment will demonstrate the basic principles behind the electrolysis (splitting) of water into it's two component gasses - Hydrogen and Oxygen. On an asteroid colony, we can extrapolate upon the following basic method to provide oxygen for breathing and hydrogen/oxygen rocket fuel. Hydrogen and oxygen are building blocks for many other compounds as well.
