How to Colonize an Asteroid
Biology is the study of life, in all of its wondrous diversity, and the science of biology is one of our keys to space. Many of the chemicals or compounds we will need - medicines and atmosphere in particular - can be produced most economically through biological means, and the establishment of a biological ecosystem both inside our spacecraft and in the asteroid will be mandatory for our survival.
