How to Colonize an Asteroid

The Plan: Step 1

Establish a Library and Research Center

The most important step toward colonizing an asteroid (or any great undertaking) is to gather all of the required reference materials together, and to design the systems needed for our colony and spacecraft.

This work is an attempt to summarize the required tools and knowledge bases, but a library of reference works is of the utmost importance, and this web spin is nothing more than a summary of the systems which need to be designed. I have been gathering these reference works for many years, and am now working towards the day when I can build a library dedicated to Asteroid Colonization, and open it to the general public. You will find many of the reference works listed here in most college libraries, but you may have to search several different libraries to find the conglomeration of material used here. In many cases, other works within the same subject area will quench your thirst for more information.

In addition to a library, there is also a great need for a dedicated research lab to test ideas and invent new tools. This too is one of my goals. With luck, this work will turn a profit. If it does so, I will use most of those proceeds towards the establishment of a library and research center.

Note that there are already similar organizations, but my goals are a bit different
