How to Colonize an Asteroid

(in 15 easy steps)

Ok, down to the meat of the matter: "How do you go about the colonization of a sterile rock, bathed in radiation, bashed full of craters, and spinning out of control in the vacuum of space?"

Say what?! Translated, it means "How do you live on an Asteroid?"

Well, it's like this -  I haven't exactly figured it all out yet, but I have thought about it and written about it often enough that I have come up with what I believe to be a pretty good rough outline of what needs to be done.

Selecting any of the steps below will lead  to a more detailed discussion of the problems involved.

This list is not set in concrete, it has grown and changed much since I first wrote a 12 step plan when I was in high school. It will grow and change more, as it should. For the moment, it seems like a solid foundation and a good starting point for further research. You might want to grab a pencil and paper and take your own notes as you read through this section. How many steps would there be in your colonization plan, and what would they be? Would you change the order or delete any of my steps? If so, detail your reasons for doing so, and write your own version of the plan. Try rewriting my descriptions to include your own thoughts on the subjects. You might be surprised at how far you can go in your own mind (Just look where I've gone!). If you would like to share any of your ideas, or to comment on mine, please feel free to email me at obwan@cyberjunkie.com.
